Guitar 101

E minor chord

E minor chord

The E minor chord is one of the easier chords to learn on guitar. I’ve given the nickname “the rock n’ roll chord” simply because of the shaping. With you’re your left hand up, bring your 2nd and 3rd finger down and you’ll see what I mean. This chord only involves your 2nd & 3rd fingers. Now place your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string and your 3rd finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string. Before strumming the chord be sure you pick every string, so that you may hear every note. Remember this is considered one of the open chords you will be learning, meaning open strings are involved in strumming the chord. Ok now hit each note individually. If it sounds clean, go ahead and strum your E minor chord.
