A minor chord

A minor chord

The A Minor Chord is an essential chord to know how to play. It is one of the minor open chords. That is a chord that uses open strings which are not fretted. The shape of the chord is similar to the E Major, but the shaping is moved one string over. To play the A Minor chord start on the 5th string open. Your 2nd finger is placed on the 2nd fret of the 4th string, while your 3rd finger is placed on the 2nd fret of the 3rd string. Lastly, put your 1st finger on the 1st fret of the second string. The 1st string is open and you’re ready to go. Remember you are only playing 5 strings so make sure you do not hit the low E string, and make sure each note can be heard clearly.
